Course Description
This is an intermediate course in the language and culture of German. Students will develop in the skill areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in German. Participation is essential, as it is necessary for students to practice the skills of Speaking and Listening with both the teacher and classmates. The students will also learn a great deal about German-speaking countries and the traditions and customs of their people.

Kapitel 3: Ferien (Vacation, Weather and King Ludwig’s Castles) Talk about a past vacation and write a postcard about your trip; Listen to weather
reports and report about the forecast.
Kapitel 4: Hauspfichte und Tiere
(Daily Obligations and Animals on a Farm) Talk about chores and obligations; describe animals and discuss life on a farm.
Kapitel 5: Essen (Food) und Essgewohnheiten (Eating Habits) Order a meal in a German-speaking country, talk about likes/dislikes (food) and differences in eating habits.
Kapitel 6: Obst/Gemüse und Einkaufen Buy items at a marketplace, talk about differences in shopping and ask questions in a
(Fruits/Vegetables and Shopping) department store or specialty shop.
Kapitel 7: Interessen und Survivaltraining
(Hobbies and Camping/Survival Training) Discuss your hobbies and interests, describe outdoor activities and plan a camping trip.
Kapitel 8: Feiertage (Holidays and Celebrations) Identify and talk about German holidays, and navigate your way around Oktoberfest!
Kapitel 9: Kommunikation (Media) Read and address an envelope, recognize and describe German newspapers, magazines and media. Present a news report in German!
Kapitel 10: Gesundheit! (Health and Occupations) Explain a health-related problem, describe how you feel and talk about the future, including occupational plans.
